Criminal Justice Reform

I am dedicated to ongoing criminal justice reform efforts that will uplift community safety efforts and invest in resources that are proven to reduce crime overall. I have joined my colleagues in advocating for the passage of the Less Is More bill, which will disrupt cycles of needless imprisonment, advocating for the passage of the Clean Slate bill, and advocating to ensure that the inhumane act of solitary confinement ends. We must continue to tell our neighbors that this issue goes beyond “good” police and “bad” police –– the institution itself has both racist and capitalist origins and it cannot be all that we depend on for lasting positive change. We must demand a city that invests in students, reduces poverty, and prioritizes community mediation services in our efforts to reform the harrowing effects of the criminal justice system and increase community safety.
